The Radio Star Shines - and how!

I am quite certain that The Buggles would be proud to see the radio star not only surviving the biggest homicide attempt towards it by Video, but actually doing pretty well for itself. When I first heard Video Killed the Radio Star I was still in school and did not quite get it. Much later it dawned upon me that even I who quite liked the song was as much part of this homicide attempt. The irony was it took MTV to air the video of this song for it to really take wings....

I sometimes wonder what actually happened to the radio star though.

I have since then moved on from The Buggles to The Beatles and The Nirvanas and The Perl Jams and The Doors and The Hendrixes et all. And with technology on my side thanks to Internet Radio or Online Radio as you wish to call it I decided to setup my own radio station as a dedication to all my favorite stars who did not need TV to let themselves be heard. And yes that includes the now forgotten radio star too.

I remember the first time i figured out what that song meant and yes it was depressing.. hanging out round musicians as often as i do i think this is a really rad thing to do. Kudos!

Tech music drives me crazy and i was wondering if all tech could do to music was pure harm.... along came internet radio with its golden collection and soothed away the hours of callous exhaustion !! Brilliant to have someone talk about it all.... and gave me moments of pleasant reverie once again... :) Kudos ! :)Shuhita.

:) Shuhita - Interesting that you would think that all tech could do was "pure harm" to music. In fact although it does not reflect on the polls here but "Electronic/Techno" are some very popular genres

And thanks everyone for the encouragement, RhythmFish needs all your support and feedback to keep going.

All right , the whole talk of radio and its supposed clash with the video reminds me of Janis Ian with some of her controversial music.... she survived big on tv AND on radio but radio stations proved more vulnerable and were burnt down for playing some of her fraught music.... nevertheless its the Never Say Die spirit of the radio that makes it skyrocket out of ashes every time its hit.... and it hits back for sure.... check out Janis Ian's hit this time on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efHOIT1ROk8 .... beautiful song that touched the stars and scraped the bottoms of hearts at the same time... Shuhita - It's incredible that you would mention Seventeen :) I think it was one of the best Adult Contemporary songs to be written / sung. Something tells me you listen to Bob Dylan too. If you do then there is a radio station dedicated solely to Bob Dylan on SHOUTcast.
Here is the link

BTW remind me to broadcast Seventeen on RhythmFish. This definitely goes into my playlist!
